Alkaline Wash
The DMK Alkaline Wash system is a remarkable treatment designed to reduce fine, downy hair.
This type of hair can be very difficult to remove with other methods as the hair growth is usually dense, pigment free & therefore can take a long time to treat with electrolysis or laser. An advantage of Alkaline Wash is that you can remove large areas of hair in one treatment with no discomfort.
How does it work?
The solution is applied to the skin for approximately 3-10 minutes (times will differ depending on the area being treated).
The treatment takes the hair to a high alkaline level, which dissolves the hair and weakens the hair root.
At first the hair will grow back at a normal rate, but as the treatments progress, the re-growth rate will become slower which usually results in permanent hair loss.
Thick, terminal hair can be removed with Alkaline Wash but it will grow back.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. How many treatments will I need before the hair is permanently removed?
A. It is impossible to estimate how many treatments are required for permanent hair removal as this is dependent on many things. For example, how the hair has been previously treated, how long it has been there, reasons for hair growth etc. Some clients report a reduction after just 2 treatments however every client is different.
Q. How long does each treatment take?
A. The treatment usually takes approximately 30 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated.
Q. Why do I need a consultation & a patch test prior to treatment?
A. Your DMK Practitioner will examine the area to be treated, as well as discuss your medical history and any allergies you may have to understand if the treatment is suitable for you. A patch test is required to ensure that your skin is suitable for Alkaline Wash Treatment.
Q. Which area of my face can be treated?
A. Any areas of the face and some parts of the body can be treated provided the hair type and skin is suitable.
Q. I have both coarse and fine hair, can I still have the treatment?
A. Yes. The coarse, dark hair will need to be treated with electrolysis or laser for permanent removal, while the fine, downy hair may be treated with DMK Alkaline Wash. We recommend that you begin with the Alkaline Wash Treatment and the coarse hairs can then be treated later with electrolysis.
Q. How often should I have the treatment?
A. Initially every 7-10 days depending on your skin. After your first DMK Alkaline Wash Treatment the hair is likely to grow back at its normal rate, but as treatments progress, the re-growth rate will become slower. Your time between treatments will then increase.
Q. Will the treatment stimulate the hair?
A. It is impossible for the Alkaline Wash to stimulate hair growth as it has a dissolving and diminishing effect on the hair follicle.
